Oil Pulling: Swishing Your Way to Health

Ever  heard of Oil Pulling?

I can’t exactly remember  how I came across oil pulling. I must’ve read it somewhere or probably saw it shared on Facebook.

Oil pulling or OP is an Ayurvedic practice  practice where oil is used to remove toxins from the body. The oil is swished around the mouth for about 20 minutes and is spat out. Coconut oil is the most recommended oil to use but you can also use sesame  oil or  sunflower oil.  OP is said to have numerous benefits like improved oral health, better sleep, reduced headaches/migraines, etc. Although there are no rigorous researches yet on oil pulling, many people still attest to the benefits of such practice.

So how is it done?

1. Swish 1 tbsp of your oil of choice for 20 minutes. You have to do this first thing in the morning, meaning on an empty stomach. No water either.

2. After 20 mins of swishing, spit it out on the trash. Do not spit anywhere as it now contains harmful bacteria/toxins. Also, not on the sink because the oil will harden and might clog the drain.

3. Rinse you mouth with warm water and brush well afterwards.

I started oil pulling again this week using sunflower oil (no more sore throat yey!). My mouth feels fresher and cleaner too. :) I still have yet to try coconut oil which I guess is cheaper than the other oils. :)

Oil pulling may or may not work for  you but I say go ahead and give it a try. Happy oil pulling!

A Peek at the Nagacadan Open Air Museum

It’s been years since I saw Grandma’s place in Kiangan so when Mom told me to go with her to visit Appu (Tuwali word for grandpa/grandma) and to see the house as well, I packed my overnight bag and we set off.

     Appu is from Nagacadan, Kiangan-

Ego

I sit still and listen to your endless blabbing
You said you love him but he doesn't love you back
I've heard it all before
Different stories, always the same downfall
You were hurt alright
How could he not love a person like you
Like who exactly?
We can never force our feelings over someone
I know my friend. Trust me. I know.

Confessions of a K-Drama Fan

It was in 2006 when Asian tlevision series gained widespread popularity on Philippine TV. Who would forget the craze over Dao Ming Ze and San Cai and the rest of Flower Four or F4. Gone were the days when Filipino audience ohhhed and ahhhed over Thalia, Maria Mercedes and other Spanish- Mexican soap operas. Suddenly, Asianovelas,as they mildly put it, took the Philippine entertainment by storm.
